    Mismatchy?

Here's another - is it taking "mismatching" too far?

I think that he outfit is basically OK. However the tie stands out as neither matching or providing a good contrast to the rest of the overall outfit though. Not to my taste.

    Cheers

Ok you are asking. To my eye and mind I see matching hose, shirt, and jacket and matching red tartan and bonnet. For sure not exact matches and nothing wrong with the look, if that is what you are trying to achieve, but by my "blink of an eye" test the outfit matches, er, um, ah, really well.

Thanks, Jamie - it's not completely mismatched, as you and Jock point out. The shirt is actually a blue and green tattersall, so the tie isn't so out of place if you get up close, but I agree that it doesn't quite fit in.

The jacket has grey flecks in it, so the hose aren't completely on their own (not that grey really "clashes" with anything).

And Jock, I was actually thinking that you would say that - it's funny how different eyes perceive things.

    Thanks for the replies!

Like Jamie, the tie doesn't "do" much. I can't say I am a fan of red bonnets, but you wear yours well.

Too many different colors, I think. To me it is primarily the yellow flashes that disturbs me, even if there might be a thin yellow stripe in the tartan? Wallace?

If it were me I'd swap the tie for a reg/college stripe and drop the bonnet. Otherwise it's a good look.

I don't think that's too far, though I do find it ironic that we don't have a better word for Highland colour/pattern aesthetics than "mismatching"

It looks colour coordinated to me, but maybe it's the lighting. Your hose looks the same colour as your jacket in the pic. I don't mind the yellow flashes. As mentioned, the tie could be better but isn't way offside. I also don't mind the bonnet...

Thanks for the feedback, Sandy. Is there any particular reason you don't like red bonnets?

There were a number of nice bonnets for sale on eBay not long ago (somebody posted about them here), but by the time I got there, all that was left in my size was red - which was fine by me, as my kilt is predominantly red as well, though it would not have been my first choice otherwise.
