It's quite a smart looking sporran- wear it with pride (but not with your Prince Charlie )
*** to Artificer and Kyle
I think it's a great day sporran

Nathan , great find ! I agree with your thoughts about using it as a day sporran , you could add the tassels back if so desired , but I think it looks quite smashing " as is " .

Nice find, Mate. I personally don't care for noisy tassells so I removed them from the 2 I found bothersome . I then cut a small hole in the centre and interchange various badges as my mood dictates. Works for me anyway
I'll not be lied to , stolen from or laid a hand upon. I do this to no man and I require the same in return.

Artificer, I wouldn't dream of wearing this with my Charlie or one of my formal doublets as I have two sporrans that would be far more appropriate for that.
I think I'll wear it without the tassels until I find a really inexpensive source for them or learn to make them by hand. The kilt shop near where I live charges quite a bit for replacement leather tassels, when they even have them, then there's the cost of having them put on. Going that route would make the sporran nearly as costly as if I had purchased it new. My old regimental day sporran had no tassels and looked ok to me.
Fate will probably throw me a good deal on tassels some time down the road. Either that or I'll learn how to do that marvelous knot myself...
You could always inquire with Scott (Artificer) in regards to having tassels made and put on (properly). His leatherwork and sporran making abilities are beyond this world! I'm sure he could help you out if you are keen down the road.
Cheers,

Cheers,
Indeed, Scott's work is marvelous and I plan to commission a hunting sporran from him when budget permits, but I'm actually going to take the advice Scott himself gave me and go without the tassels as the fur makes the sporran look very smart as it is... There's nothing stopping me from changing my mind down the road.

Sounds good!

So the sporran arrived today and it's like 3/4 of the size of my black day sporran. The sporran measures 6.25 x 6.5 '' tall whereas my other sporrans are around 7.5 by 7. Did I accidentally purchase a boy's sporran? :S

It sure sounds like it. I think my son's is probably just a bit tinier than that, around 5w x 6.5h (but he's only 7).
Usually what you see for a standard full sized adult day sporran is somewhere round 7.5-8"w by 8-9"h. So yours is not exceedingly tiny, but still small enough to be noticeably out of scale.

Good thing I have some others. I was really looking forward to wearing this but I don't think it will comfortably hold my stuff and will probably look odd to the trained eye. Maybe I'll try it on and take some pics and see how it looks... it's so nice! What a pity!

If it doesn't work, you could get it up on eBay once more!
