I don't kilt up when I ride my motorcycle for simple safety concerns of exposed skin potentially ending up in contact with blacktop, but when I ride my horses, I usually am trail riding, and we go through some pretty tight spots at times, with some very grabby twigs, branches, thorns, and female equestrians. For that reason I typically ride wearing my heavier cotton duck utility kilt. Yes, it wrinkles the pleats and/or apron, but I'm not showing my horses so I don't really worry about it much.

Oddly enough, no one asks to ride in my saddle anymore, either.
