    AGM at the Cally

Thursday last week the AGM was held at the Caledonian Society of Norway (The Cally). Two XMarks members were elected to the Committee. "NLoken" second from the left was elected to Committee Secretary and I was elected to Vice President. I do hope we manage to live up to the expectations of my fellow members.
As you can see from the picture of the newly elected committee there is only the Norwegian XMarks wearing kilts. The President next to me and the gentleman on the far left are Scottish. The gentleman with the bowtie is American. We certainly have a job to do getting these gentlemen to wear their kilts on more occasions than the Burns supper.

Congratulations to you both. I just wonder if the Scottish gentlemen are not wearing their kilts because they are outwith Scotland and the event was not special enough(sorry that sounds awful, but I hope you get my meaning) for them to make an exception and don their kilts?Do they own a kilt? After all, a good chunk of the male population of Scotland don't. Perhaps you could ask them, one day?

Jock Scot. Both the Scottish gentlemen do own a kilt and they do wear them occasionally like on our Burns supper and if we have a pub crawl. The problem for one of them is that his kilt has shrunk (nudge nudge). I have to convince him to alter it or buy a new one.

Ah yes, that well known, perpetual and world wide problem of "the shrinking kilt"!

Congratulations to both you and nloken. You both look great. I have said it before and must say it again, I truly love your kilt. The tartan is smashing.

I could always pray that it stop shrinking; in that way we could "altar" it instead of having to "alter" it.

*** As someone of Norwegian ancestry (and being that I was lucky enough to visit Norway in 2005) one day I plan to save up for a Norwegian centennial tartan tank.
