Well, I started in CA where I was born (actually was born in Sacramento). Had a job opportunity in New England about 13 years ago and spent a litle over 9 years there. Love the trees and the green "canyons" on the freeways (wait: TOLL ways) there!
Life changes sent me back to the Sacramento area a few years ago. I actually live at the base of the foothills in Newcastle! I am a HUGE American History buff and was in heaven with all of the Revolutionary War sites in the east. Actually lived in a home in NH that was built in 1730's by a man whose three sons fought in the Revolutionary War!

Fascinating! I started in Massena NY, went to Plattsburgh, then Rochester NH, then back to Schenectady NY, then back home to Massena, then to Pullman WA, then to Dayton OH, then to Rawlins WY, then to Beaver Dam WI, then back to Massena, then to Bennington VT, then to where we live now out in the boonies south of Albany NY. We will retire wherever the majority of grandchildren live! Who knows?
By the way, the job in Sacramento was offered right after we moved to Rawlins, about '82. I'd be retired by now if I had taken that job...
