My son borrowed one of my kilts for a HS Band concert
So my son texted me at work and asked if somehow I could get my black Alpha kilt to fit him for the final band concert of the year. Now he has never shown any interest walking against the flow and wearing a kilt to his High School is really pushing the envelope. He and I are not even close in size, I am old, Fat and have played Santa lots of times and he is a fit trim Eagle Scout. I was able
to wrap the kilt around him buckled him up and it didn't look to bad and off he went. The kids really loved his courage, the Band Director on other hand wasn't to happy and told him by formal definition a Kilt is not pants as is what the dress code call for. He never called for me to bring him pants, so the night was a success. I will see if the pics turned out and post later.

As I follow him out seeing all the staring the adults were doing behind his back, I wonder why facial piercings, body tattoos, blue and purple hair is treated as normal, but a young man in a Kilt....

Because some of them are @?$#0£€$...or their trousers are able to sufficiently handle the job that Lord FlashHeart has trouble with and are, therefore, ashamed of themselves for coming up short.
Seriously, though, ignorance abounds in the world today. I'm sure your son looked great and that ou are a proud papa! Congratulations on introducing the lad to his heritage and influencing him.

Here is a pic of him playing the timpanis. I tried to get him to pose, but since he was already in hot water he refused.

My son just asked for a link to Stillwaters he wants to get the entire percussion section to get the Shadow tartan economies.
He is now on a mission, wish him luck. Of course the Director is gonna have moment when 10 guys come walking into summer band camp in kilts.

Good for him, I hope he succeeds! That band director sounds like he needs to broaden his horizons.
