And yes, it is also my guess that he was saluting the Canadian way because he was in Canada, vs being in the UK.
The problem being, Eric, is that HRH qualified for his RAF wings first ( at cranwell I believe) and then his Naval wings but I can't find any reference of him qualifying for Army (AAC) wings, although his is Colonel-in-Chief of the AAC, and may have qualified upon taking up that appointment. He said when he took over as Colonel-in-Chief of the Parachute Regiment that he "couldn't look them in the eye if he hadn't qualified for his parachute 'wings'." so maybe he felt the same with the AAC? Perhaps we'll never know.
