    Hi Bill,

I've not been around for a couple of days - the result of an over active social diary! However, it's never too late to give yet another warm welcome to an old pal from the Utilikilts forum. So, WELCOME!

As I think you have already realised a number of your friends from other places are here already, but I know you'll soon settle in, with or without them. Everyone here is a friend, right from day one.

    Hugs to Sherri and you.

Greetings from Pittsburgh, PA, Bill! I did welcome you once already in Ghraham's thread where you made your debut, but in case that passed unnoticed I thought I had best reiterate lest you consider me unsociable.

From which part of Pittsburgh are you originally? I was born and raised 100 miles north in Conneaut Lake but have lived the past 15 years in the 'burgh. First I was in Sharpsburg, then Mt. Washington, and presently just across the way in Duquesne Heights.

well, my wife got me into this and now i'm hooked. i started an introduce myself thread somewhere here so i won't hijack this one, but i PLAN to get several more kilts (i'm afraid i'm rather partial to the solids and "contemporary" patterns) including at least one leather kilt!

now my wife's trying to get her mother's seamstress (an extremely talented lady who, it seems, can make anything you can think of) to make me some kilts. we'll see how that turns out.

    Greetings!

    Ham,
It's good to see "The Godfather of Kilts" here. You are truly an icon and role model for all of us.

Sherri and I are planning a trip to Europe in the spring of next year. We might be spending a bit of time in London. We'll look you up and maybe meet for pint or two.

    Mychael,
I had a nagging feeling that I'd missed someone. Sorry. It certainly wasn't intentional.

I was born in the Homewood district and lived in Homewood-Brushton, East Liberty-Garfield, Braddock, and Braddock Hills (the boondocks).

I was about 9 years old when I lived there. That was an intereting place. Our next-door neighbor was a genuine hillbilly. He hunted raccoons and trapped rabbits and 'possums for food. I often went trapping with him. He taught me to shoot with his old single-shot, bolt-action .22 rifle.

Just before I left Pittsburgh in 1973, I worked at Duquesne Works U.S. Steel as a blast furnace laborer.

    Jazzkilt,
Great music. I'll be buying your cd. I've been pretending to be a musician for about 35 years. I find it a pleasure to be in the company of the real thing.

I checked out your website and listened to the samples. I'd think, "Chuck Mangione" then you'd hit me with something else and I'd think, "Oh, John Coltrane" and you'd throw me another curve. Finally, I just had to quit thinking and listen. I love that!

Your use of space and atonality make me think you'd like George Crumb's, "Ancient Voices of Children" (Nonesuch, 1971).

    Welcome to the group.

Firstly ...Sorry to you Bill for hijacking your welcome thread. It's just I hadn't seen Jazzkiltz name on the board before, and was trying to steer him in the right direction.

    Jazzkiltz.
You are among men who are lucky enough to have understanding wives. (My wife is Norwegian so is a little difficult to understand sometimes .....But thats another story )

    Cheers ...David

WOW! thanks if you got all that, then you're more of a musician than you give yourself credit for. I'll check out the Crumb (which I think I've hear of, but never actually heard).

    Norway!

    Freelander,

No problem. It's a pleasure to meet you. You sure are a long way from sunny California!

I can appreciate having a supportive spouse. My wife bought most of my kilts.

    Great pictures in your gallery.
