    Center of the Universe

There's a new television series called, "Center of the Universe". It features John Goodman (from the tv show "Roseanne") again as a family man.

Among the wacky family members is his son who has discovered his Scottish heritage and wears a kilt on the show (and is truly horrid on the bagpipes).

    The previews look rather promising:

CBS's new series, "Center of the Universe"

    Graham,

I don't know if it will play in Tasmania. Do you get CBS stations there?

I did make sure to click on the Feedback link and send CBS some words of encouragement on behalf of the kilted brethren.

Others should feel free to do the same.

We'll probably get it here in the United Kingdom - in three or four years time

Well Ham, that's fair exchange for us having to wait so long to see Monarch Of The Glen. Besides, the filter of time probably saves you from seeing some of the truely bad shows that our networks try to foist on us. At least I hope it does, I think the networks must have an extremely low opinion of our intellect.

the best example of that is Big Brother. trouble is, for many in our nation the networks have got it right - they ARE of low intellect to watch such rubbish.

I guess I can't argue that Graham. If nobody was watching they'd pull the plug. Makes me worry about the state of intellectual development, or lack thereof. Let's hope there's a turn toward clever dialog and thought provoking concepts and less "reality TV". (what an oxymoron, reality TV is farther from reality than most fiction)

    Jamie

P.S. I have seen some promos for this show, it looks like it has potential. Kind of like a cross between "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Grounded for Life". Not very cerebral stuff but satisfying in a junk food kind of way.

My TV watching time is limited so I stick with the Discovery Channel, History Channel, The Learning Channel and History International. I just don't have the time for the trash.

I'm not so quick to tar all networking programs with the same brush... but television has been hit with a terrible virus over the last couple of years call the "RealityTV" virus. It is now so rampant that it renders much of what I pay for cable television a waste of money. The situation doesn't appear to be improving.

I will give "Center of the Universe" a fair try. 8)

yes Blu, I nearly included Reality TV in my disdainful remarks.

I have no time for any of it. We don't have pay TV, I figure my internet costs me $50 a month, that's enough expense.
I just pick out the best of free to air, most of which for me tends to be UK shows, the wife and I like them the best. Taggart is my favourite (I think Blythe Duff is stunning!) The Bill has gone very downhill, don't care for it much anymore.
