Black Leather Stillwater Kilt Jacket

I had been saving my pennies for an item covered by Rule #11 and found that I could no longer purchase it (due to an ICD device implanted on the right side of my chest (and I'm right handed...nuff said). I also had just had some really good news from my cardiologist about my cholesterol level (my level was fine for a normal guy my age but not one with an artificial valve.) He had threatened to put me on medication and through changing my diet* I dropped my cholesterol levels by something like 23% and lost 11 lb. to boot I decided I would reward myself using some of the money I had saved up.


Now a while ago I contacted Jerry over at Stillwater kilts looking to buy one of his black leather kilt jackets. He offered me an opportunity to buy a one-off version in brown and I jumped at the chance.

Now I completely love the jacket, am throughly happy with it, and have worn it a lot. However I have found myself putting in on and then taking it off because the brown just didn't work with some of my outfits.

I decided to treat myself to one in black.

It arrived with the usual Stillwater Kilts speed and I am as happy about this one as the brown one. In fact for some reason this jacket has gotten more positive comments than the brown one from the people at my daughter's school (go figure).

Speaking of my daughter, here is a photo of her and I after she had played with her elementary school band (clarinet and flute).




I'm wearing a Stillwater Heavyweight Black Stewart kilt and flashes, an embossed Stillwater sporran, my Red Thistles polo shirt, and my new jacket. I think this is a great casual look. If you are a kilt wearer who really isn't into tweed and would like a more modern/casual look the Stillwater leather kilt jackets are a great option

I like the brown that you have, but that black one really looks great. Seeing you and Dale in your Stillwater jackets makes me really look hard at my budget.

I do so crave a brown one....really really crave, salivate, drool....but alas...don't know they're made large enough for my upper rotundness. They do look sharp for sure.

And those Rule 11 prohibited thingies have cost me as much as kilting....guess an addiction is an addiction....gotta have one of everything...can't help but wonder if there's some cross addiction involved.

I have seriously considered one of those smashing jackets. You wear it so stylishly, as always, my friend.

How is the quality of the leather and the seams? They look awesome in photos but the Aspie in me has to know all of the ins and outs.

As it happens, I was wearing mine Thursday at coffee downtown with a friend/colleague, the Israeli Consulate's security director. I do have a pic, but won't post it. . .after a couple of years of association, he still hadn't known I'm a kilt wearer, as when working I only wore business suits.

That is a great looking jacket Jamie. Money well spent. It's a shame SWK don't do sizes for GOS as I would have one in a flash . ( that's a big hint SWK if you are reading this)

Cholesterol, however, is a drag. I also have some experience with using diet to control it. Much better than drugs, IMHO.
