    Hose and Shoes

I'm wondering what everyone wears for shoes and hose, if any hose at all. I'm trying to figure out what kind of shoes look good with hose for a casual setting; Hiking boots, runners, converse, Docs or anything else along those lines. Do you skip out on the hose when not wearing dress shoes or brogues? Right now I dont have any hose and I'm not sure if I like them but many here have said, along with my wife, that I should try them out. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. If you are willing to share pictures as examples, even better.

    Thanks,
    Alan

I usually wear boots or just brown oxfords(Walmart $20.00). I do have a pair of Ghillie Brogues, my wife really likes them but I don't wear them too often.

I like the Red Wing Brogue Rangers, casual, yet classy.

In the summer for casual stuff, I wear my KEEN sandals with no hose/socks. In the winter, or for formal stuff, I wear hose and lace-up shoes.

Docs and Sketchers boots most of the time. Always with hose. Usually up with garter ties. Nice dress shoes (Oxford type often) for nicer occasions. Never Ghillie Brogues. I don't like then so I don't own them.

Give hose a try. They will really step up your kilt wardrobe a lot. Your kilts will thank you, mate.

    .

Lovat blue is probably the most versatile.

Since this is the contemporary sub-forum, I wl answer accordingly. Usually Ibwear Doc Martins with hose and still use garter ties. I only have tartan kilts and just think it ooks better on me. I. do occassionally wear hiking sock pushed down, but never kilt hose pushed down. If I am wearing proper kilt hose (contemporary or otherwise) the are up with garter ties.
