Just bought a couple of new kilts

I recently made a purchase from heritageofscotland.com which is somehow connected to the Gold Brothers. I feel I got a decent deal, but that's without being entirely certain of the running price on 8yd PV kilts. As part of a buy one get one sale I bought a 8yd pv kilt in Scottish national and for my free kilt I selected an 8yd pv kilt in the Freedom tartan. Both seem to be made well enough, though the labels and such seem a bit generic. So I ended up paying 129.77 for two kilts plus over seas shipping and the currency exchange fee that my bank charges. The question is:
Did I really get a deal, or did I fall prey to a cheap tourist trap with a web site?

I bought a Heritage of Scotland kilt in the house tartan a couple of years ago when I was in Edinburgh on the Royal Mile. I found the construction, fit and fabric to be very acceptable for the price. The price you paid seems to be OK for two PV's and the shipping. My two cents worth.

I have a Heritage of Scotland and Irish National kilt from them for a similar price in different sales. They are fair value, practical kilts. I have been advised on here that they are not pure PV, but a mix of PV acrylic

    What is the Freedom tartan?

I looked and only found Freedom of Derry, Freedom of Scotland and Operation Iraqi Freedom?

    Hi David.

It's a Gold Bros fashion tartan (STA No.6865) and registered in May 2005.

In the Scottish Register it's listed as "Gold Brothers" tartan

I've seen Heritage of Scotland 8 yard PV kilts for around £40 Sterling (ex VAT outside the EU) plus about £10 shipping to Australia, £50 Sterling, about $75 US at today's exchange rate, so I think you got a reasonable deal.

At that price, they are obviously mass produced and machine stitched. I believe the kilt I won in a travel competition() came from there. It's serviceable for everyday wear but isn't pleated correctly (more or less to the half sett on a MacKenzie because the sett is quite large) but it passes muster with the general populace down under!

I think you did great. Here in the States you can get from SportKilt for $80 then add about $15 for shipping. I think you did great. 2 for the price of "1" is a great bargen

I was looking at the same deal, but I just got 2 new kilts from HOS in April. I purchased the Freedom tartan and Ramsey Blue. So I opted not at this time, but I think you got a good deal. Now I saving my pennies to order and new casual for myself and an mini PV for the wife from USAKilts.

I think that you got and OK deal. Before I started buying wool made to measure kilts, I bought several P.V. 8 yard kilts (3) from "www.buyakilt.com" for about 67.00 each + shipping. They're great quality, and even though I now have 5 wool kilts, I still love them.

I checked out that same deal you just bought, and thought that while it was a "good deal", when I compared it to the www.buyakilt.com pricing (and service, and seeing as I already have 10 (or more) kilts), I decided that I'd pass.

So, I think that you did "ok".
