Hmm. I've never really liked the current fashion of sports kit as general wear but each to his own. What you wear is up to you and what you are comfortable with. I get the Black Watch kilt, is the Celtic shirt for some special occasion or general use?
The only downside I can see is that in some parts of the world, sports shirts and kilts are associated with the "Tartan Army", elements of which aren't universally accepted. You'll be fine as long as you don't run into a MacDonald who supports Rangers and originates from Glen Coe. I doubt they would be very common in Kentucky, which I associate more with Bluegrass and Bourbon - second only to Usquebaugh!
