    New kilt from McRok

When I came back to Japan after my three weeks in Alaska, my new kilt from www.mcrok.com was waiting for me.

I have a wedding to attend on the 28th, so I ordered a Prince Charlie and a traditional kilt in 16oz MacKinnon red.

McRok was great. When I found out about the wedding I didn't have any money in my Alaskan checking account (I don't have any real credit cards, just a Visa check card). And I knew it would be less than 2 months between the time I got money into my account and when I would need the new kilt, and that wasn't enough time for a traditional kilt to be made. I informed McRok of my situation, and they agreed to start work on my kilt, and I could place my order when I had the money in my account. (It probably helped that this was my third kilt from them)

The kilt is beautiful, I tried the stuff on and everything fits perfectly. I'll get some pics taken at the wedding and post them.

I once again recommend www.mcrok.com for anyone looking to buy a kilt. Their kilts are fantastic (and so is everything else they sell), and their customer service is fantastic.

My newest one is the traditional (8 yard). My previous 2 were the casual kilts (4 yard).

Of all my kilts my McRok ones are the best. One of my casual kilts made by another company fits and swings great, but when I sit it comes up my thighs a bit and looks short. I don't have any sort of problem like that with my McRok kilts. Hang and swing on the McRok kilts is fantastic, and they fall into place perfectly when I sit.

There are some other things that set my McRok kilts above the casual kilt from the other company as well. For example, the straps on my other kilt are sewn in on top of the fringe, so it breaks the look of the fringe, whereas on my McRok casuals have the straps sewn in behind the fringe, so there is no break in the fringe. On the traditional McRok the straps are sewn in between two layers of fringe, so that it doesn't break the look of the fringe from either side.

My final cost on my last order including shipping to Japan was $1006, but that was for the traditional kilt in 16oz, a Prince Charlie with vest, a cap, tartan flashes, a pair of hose, a tie, a kilt pin... and I think that is all.

Turnaround time is really good. One of my casual kilts arrived at my door just 23 days after I placed the order. I don't know exactly when my last package arrived, because I was out of town when it came... but I think it was about 6 1/2 or 7 weeks after I placed the order.

I wish McRok would let you see the prices without having to go through the order process. As a rule I stop looking at a maker if I don't see prices listed.

I thought that same thing too Bubba, but then I noticed that if you pick a tartan in the drop down lists, a price will appear with the tartan name.

OOps! I forgot to add...Congratulations on the new kilt Joe! It's good to hear that McRok McRocks!!

The prices vary depending on what weight wool you choose. First you use the drop down to select your tartan, then there is a second drop down that has weights and prices for those weights on it. Some tartans are available in more weights than others.
