Thanks, Bill. Yes, I've read the quibblings over the Jacobite shirt but I'm not trying to be a purist, at least not in that photo. I just like the look. I also have the off-white hose, which are more appropriate if you play bagpipes, which I do. Sort of.

Yes, a great looking casual outfit. The length looks much better now. Much better - as does the height above your waist. ;)
I have now had three kilts hemmed by a local seamstress - arranged through my dry cleaner. Only 20-dollars (each) and she had done an outstanding job on each one.
Couper, there's a sewing shop just around the corner from me who I think would've done it for close to that price too, but being in Japan where most have never even seen a kilt before, I thought it less of a risk just to learn how to do it myself.

Looks good to me! BTW, is that a bass clarinet you're hiding over to your right? Another heirloom or do you play?
Hello, Rev. Henry. Yes, I play the bass clarinet. It is not an heirloom, but I have bagpipes which are. I am trying to get back in shape to play them.

I think you made the right decision, Jim. I think it looks just fine.
