Wow, don't look in on the forum for a few days and all sorts of excitement happens! I really hoped this run would be in PV, but it's academic since I can't afford either choice.

    Dangerdean.
I'll play it safe with 3 yards double, 6 if single. Depending on what happens with selling random crap before we move I might move up a couple yards before the deadline.

    Major hiccup folks-

I just got the newest Dalgliesh pricelist (April '13) and we have the following issues-

Their newest price list has no discount for volume, so the price is £25/$40 yd/dw, not a total deal breaker, BUT

£114 "set up" for custom sett - this is not a huge deal, as right now with 17 people on the order it would only boil down to ~£6.7/person ($10US),

the BIG issue is the following (which is not waived, no matter the yardage- I just got a reply back from Dalgliesh)

£100/per custom colour! Given that the original colour way had 3 custom colours we'd be looking at £300 + the £114, or roughly £24/$39 per person before any yardage.

I'm sorry to throw a spanner into the works at this stage of the game, I know that this may effect some people's participation in the order.
In light of this new information I'd say we have just a few options-

    1) damn the torpedos and press on as planned, especially knowing that with each additional order the per-person 'start up' cost drops.

    2) Stick with Dalgliesh but change the colours to stock, which would in effect give us a more 'modern' palette. The below image was generated using the Scotweb "weaver's" colours, which are considered stock

    3) we attempt to pursue the original colour way with another mill (probably Marton Mills)

What do we think, gang? Option 1, 2, or 3?
With either option 2 or 3 I'll probably lock this thread down and start again.

Again, my apologies to all that this new information arrived this late in the game.

Artificer, Thank you for all your work on this.
The colors are what attracted me. I read Barb's post about her opinion somewhere that she expected the
origional to be darker so maybe a stock color would work?
I keep thinking of the shipping and DHL "Extra" fee's that sometimes pop up too.
Hummmm. I am still in so far. I would vote for stock color choices if we shave off some costs.

P.S. No discount for volume? Dalgliesh has changed.

    Thanks Tess,
Last time everything shipped Royal Mail Small Packet, so we didn't have to deal with a private shipper's "Brokerage" BS.
3-4 yards DW to the US ran around £23-24, if memory serves.

Dalgliesh certainly has changed. Last time we got the colours for free and Kenny Dalgliesh called me (twice) to thank us for the order,
this time when I enquired about volume as it pertains to the dyeing I got a rather terse "the price list is the price list".

I'm still in but find the option #2 the modern variable preferable.
