    Well, if it were a Kate MacPherson, you could be right on that count (tho I doubt it's one of hers). I think the use of metal cantle contributes to the odd look.

    Kate does do good work, her mounts actually look like the original beastie, I don't think they are quite my cup of tea however. This one, even without the cantle, looks as though it met with a rather traumatic or catastrophic end. I don't believe it went peacefully!

    I agree, that's not something normally found on a full-mask sporran.

    Kate Macpherson makes them with the option of plain brass or silver cantles. I really like the look of full-mask sporrans with addition of the cantle. Reminiscent of some of the sporrans featured in MacLeay's, "The Highlanders of Scotland."
