from just down the range in SEQ!

If you want to expand on the "special occasions", the best advice is "Just do it"! I do the weekly groceries shop kilted most Fridays, the occasional question but otherwise, no worries - just be confident!

Grum: Welcome from the mountains of northern New Mexico! You might trying expanding your kilted experiences gradually and by participating in occasions that aren't quite as "special", eg dinner out, pub night, community event, etc. where folks are usually exhibiting their "better", if not "best" behavior.

If your experience is like mine, you will find that a lot of any apprehensions you may have are mostly in your mind and not shared by others. Yeah, your buddies will rag you a bit, but so what?! Rag 'em back, show 'em you don't care and they'll stop soon enough. The "worst" reaction I have experienced to date was in a pub. I walked by a fellow unknown to me who said, "Nice dress.". I kept walking and simply said, "Thank you".

You will likely find a surprising number of ladies who will compliment you, ask you questions about your kilt, and yes, tease you. But, that's a good thing! Tease 'em back. They seem to like it.

I hope you enjoy the forum.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I agree, just do it. I have made it a point of wearing my kilt when ever my wife and I go out for dinner. Also when on Vacation. When your mates ask you about your skirt, just respond politly that the reason they call it a "kilt" is because that is what happened to the last person who called it a "skirt".
