    Wink "Beaver-Tailed" Rob Roy Sporran

This was a late night "insomnia" project I made several years back. Had absolutely no idea how to make a sporran, let alone what type I wanted--be it a dress, semi-formal, or hunting. So a few browser windows and several photos from online later, and I came up with this. It is all hand-sewn using a leather awl and a plain old needle with some sinew. It is made from birch tanned reindeer leather, black deerskin trim and chocolate lambskin applique. The applique design is of a Haida bear and was done to add a personal touch as that many of my friends call me "bear". I am rather pleased with it despite knowing it was sewn while I was drinking a 25 year old cognac.

    Here are the photos:

The applique makes it! A very unique sporran, and I am sure it generates a lot of comments.

Thank you for the comment. Yeah, I have never seen another one like it in shape which makes it rather unique just on that premise alone.I agree, the applique is what really makes it.
