Funnily enough, none of the tartans I put up initially! I was looking at examples of already made dancer's outfits and my daughter saw this tartan and loved it: . I also ordered matching velveteen in raspberry, and silver trim and buttons. Now I just need to finish up some other projects before it gets here!

Carrie, how is it going with your kilt?
It's such a coincidence... I've been working on a dancer's kilt in the Dress Raspberry MacGregor tartan that your daughter likes.
Here's a photo of the pleating. Maybe I should have made the white in the center....

Bonnie Heather,
I love the way your kilt looks! I have been working on it slowly, but steadily! I got 14 pleats done the first go around, then ripped them out and started again having learned so much by the time I got there. My daughter saw the Dress Raspberry MacRae when I was ordering the tartan and declared it her one true love and since it looked like a less complicated pattern I was all over it. Here is a picture of progress thus far.
I also have the pink as the center, I really liked the placement of the dark lines that way. Now I just have to hope she doesn't grow too much too fast!

Take it from a father of four and grandfather of 14, they ALWAYS grow too fast. Enjoy this time, it goes by quickly.

I really like the clean look of raspberry, white and the dark line. Your daughter is a lucky girl !

So, would the fact that I have been plotting the making of a kilt for my husband, and a solo kilt for my son as I sew this one are fairly normal?
