Organ music based on Scottish themes

Any culture that eats haggis should also love organ music!

Sorry, couldn't resist. In all seriousness, I do enjoy all sorts of organ music -- from the classic "big pipes" to its use in classic rock (The Doors come to mind along with many others). Thanks for the post and the link.

Keep an eye out for the contemporary composer James MacMillan, originally from Ayrshire. I know him from his choral music, but there's at least one solo organ work & one for organ, brass, and percussion.

As a matter of fact, our church choir sang MacMillan's "A new song (O sing unto the lord)" this week, and you can find it under June 23rd here Main site is http://trinitysc.org/

Scroll down to the offertory anthem, & be warned that the organ goes for broke at the end. if you're wearing headphones, be ready with the gain control after about 4:15 minutes.

P.S. Not surprisingly, he's all over youtube.com. I highly recommend him.

It has to be said, however, that organ playing and kilt wearing do not really belong together! I find the kilt makes it difficult to see my feet, which does affect performance.
