The Arizona tartan yarn has arrived!

I got the last of the yarn for the Arizona tartan I plan to weave for my Husband, Son and the girls. We had one snaffu the yarn companies have had some issues with dye lots so my tan came in a light brown. We are going to use it any way since we live in Northern Arizona and the ground here is darker than the desert, also it took 3 month to get that batch I don't want to wait. Will post pics as we dress the loom.IMG_6534_sm.jpg start of the warp! using 2/18 jagerspun superfine merino at 30 epi.

This will be my third tartan. more of a hobby, the first one took 4 years to complete, the second about a year and a half. this one will be 25 yards total, but I will be splitting it into two lengths.

I had to put together a new raddle for her new loom, since the one from her old, smaller loom wasn't going to work. (In case it's not clear, Red Raven is my wife.)

    The raddle...

The mounting bracket for the raddle...

The raddle mounted on the loom...

BTW, dear, SNAFU only has one F...

You are so brave to dive into such weaving. I case it helps here are the colors (as best beach sand can convey them) in my Arizona tartan kilt.

And here are the colors in Craig's

You can see the difference - and the similarities....

    Keep us posted.

And, sorry, its a pet peeve of mine....Prescott is NOT in Northern Arizona - its in Central Arizona...but no way in Northern Arizona...and these days it seems like its in California from all the Cali ex-pats taking up residence there.....course, from Page, everything in Arizona is southern...

Weaving seems to be quite an art (especially tartan weaving). Hats off to you guys!

Ha! A funny thing is that no one in California calls our state "Cali." That's how we know out-of-staters right away.
My cousin in Oregon and I have a laugh about that every time I see him. It also reminds me of "Frisco." Aparently it irks San Franciscans.

VERY neat thread, Red Raven and Chrome Scholar! I look forward to seeing your finished result.

That's awesome. If I had infinite time, building a loom and weaving would be one thing I would like to do.
