Matt, can you confirm if the Awe hose marketed by Ferris Islay Rose are indeed the same as the Lewis Hose and likewise manufactured by HOC. ?

Well the hose arrived today which you can't really argue with as damn good service; I ordered them yesterday.
This is the pair I received:
They do appear to be generally the same as the Rannoch line. There are however a couple of small differences the main one being that there is a break in the cuff pattern to both sides of the hose one of which is shown here:

The Rannoch pattern, on the pair I have at least, is unbroken all the way round the cuff.
The other difference is that the length of hose appears shorter but the cuff is about twice as long as the Rannoch cuff only half of which is patterned so one is compelled to use the "z" fold technique so that the pattern is correct. The net result of this is that it makes it easier to adjust the length for a variety of leg lengths but with the downside that the whole cuff is very slightly more bulky and, I suspect, the manufacture is more expensive.

The pattern on the tops of my Rannoch hose are also unbroken all the way round the cuff, though you can see a vertical line where they are knitted together. Your hose are clearly labelled "Katrine", which indeed suggests that they were a precursor/contemporary to the "Lady Katrine" line. I emailed HofC and queried them about that.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I would be interested to hear their response. It does seem odd because the lady Katrine line is a completely different style. The fit of the hose I have and my pair of Rannoch are also virtually identical (apart from as mentioned above) and they also have the yellow stitching around the toe indicating a small size: I don't know if they have a similar system for ladies hose.

You are comparing an older version of their Rannoch hose to the new (and current) version of their Rannoch hose, which is what you just received under the name Katrine.
I believe the pattern changed about two years ago (this just going by memory, and I'm only half way through my first cup of coffee this morning). :-)
Here is a photo I posted some time back showing the older style of Rannoch (mustard) hose, side by side with the current style of Rannoch (new mustard).

Well, I don't really know anything about the Ferris Lay Rose business (I handle House of Cheviot trade orders for the US, but don't have any dealings with their UK clients). So all I can tell you is what I can deduce from looking at their web site. I assume that they purchase the kilt hose from House of Cheviot with their own store labeling on the hose (many UK retailers do that), and for whatever reason decided to call them by a different name.
In any case, here is the photograph that appears on their site as "Awe hose."

They are described as being made from a 3 ply Merino wool blend in a range of 12 colors.
Here is the stock House of Cheviot photograph for Lewis Hose.

These are made from a 3 ply Merino wool blend in the same range of 12 colors.

I will post if HofC replies, but so far, nothing.
