I searched to see if this was already posted. So if this is old news, I'm sorry.

As of June 1, 2013 the Band of the USAF Reserve has ceased operations and will be inactivated effective September 30, 2013. The USAF Band of the West, located in San Antonio, Texas will now support Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. The USAF Band of Mid-America, near St. Louis, Missouri will now support Tennessee.

We would like to thank everyone for your continued support throughout the years. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the community and other surrounding areas. We thank you so much for your commitment to the Band of the Air Force Reserve, and in helping us make our mission a success.

Please check the links below for more information about the units in Texas and Missouri:

    Band of the West: http://www.bandofthewest.af.mil/
    Band of Mid-America: http://www.bandofmidamerica.af.mil/

As the Pipe Band was part of this organization, does anyone know its status?

I know one of the pipers. The band is defunct. The beautiful David Naill pipes are to to be surrendered to the tender mercies of Uncle Sam's surplus military property system.

We may see their mismatched parts come up for auction in a decade or so...

    That is seriously sad news.
I'm sure there are people out there that would buy the lot to rescue them from that fate.
I wonder what will become of the uniforms?

.....for one, I'd personally entertain the idea of accepting a donation of a USAF Kilt, being that I am a Vet.
