Anyone going to the Enumclaw games this weekend?
Just curious if anyone is planning to go to the Enumclaw Highland Games this weekend? It looks like it's a good one.

Mike: I'm not going. It's too far to drive from NM. But, if you go, take/post some pictures, so we can see what we missed.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I'd love to make it, but this weekend is the Seafair weekend here in Powell River. I'm piping for the opening ceremonies tomorrow evening and my band will be playing in Saturday morning's parade and performing in the afternoon. I won't make it next year either, as I'll be in Scotland at that time. Just too many events seem to happen in July.

I'll be there. Saturday I'm taking the fam, and Sunday I'll be playing w/the Olympia Highlanders.

My mother and I attended on Saturday. I'm slow, so we didn't get there till Noon, right before the opening ceremonies. As a result, the stands were full and we ended up in one of the handicap areas next to the announcing table.
First was the massing of the bands. (The first four photos aren't in focus, presumably because the auto focus couldn't find something near enough to focus on; besides the table, which I didn't want it to focus on.)

Here they are doing the turn to go back out.

They listed off all the bands, but I wasn't quick enough to write any of them down.

Next they brought in the Flags.

They had four national anthems sung, with a soloist for each. "Flower of Scotland", "God Save the Queen", "O Canada", and " The Star-Spangled Banner". Though they neglected to tell the audience that the words were inside the back page of the program till after "Flower of Scotland" had been sung.
Next they brought in the Dignitaries. I thought I had gotten a picture of them all sitting, but apparently not.
They were mostly representatives from other smaller highland games around the area. Two were the Chieftians of the games (I'm guessing they were the representatives of the committee that puts on the games). One was a pastor who gave the invocation. And there were two men with feathers on their bonnets. The first was the head of some national veteran's association. The second was introduced by his wife and he had like four names, and I think he at least had the title of Baron Kilbright.

I don't really remember why these guys were shooting, but looking back at the program, it must have been for the Lament. I just remember that they fired thrice and loaded twice.

Next they filed out the dignitaries to start the Parade of Clans. I started to take photos across the field, before I realized that they would be walking right past me on their way to be announced. I tried to get all of them, given the limit view I had, but I still missed a few. My mother says I missed MacLaren.
