My New Favourite Kilt Pin
I have been trying to acquire a highland officer's sterling kilt pin for quite some. I like the clean, classy look to them and they would fit well with other silver accessories - watch chain, etc.
I was just not prepared to pay the 150-160 pound price tag that a couple of Scottish suppliers are charging for these pins. Over time (a lot of time as it happens), I have bid on several on eBay and folks have really run up the prices. No luck on that front.
After some more research, I did find a source through the London Scottish Regimental Shop - http://www.londonscottishregt.org/shop/ . They charged me 40 pounds, including shipping to Canada, for a 4.5 inch, hallmarked sterling silver officer's kilt pin. It arrived this week and I am absolutely delighted!

This one appears to be $42 USD, or $47.50 for a heavier version......

As discussed, sterling officer's kilt pins do turn up on Ebay. A case in point, this pin just got posted with a starting bid of GBP 22.99.

It will be interesting to see how high it goes. I still think that I got good value from the Toronto Scottish - a lot less than buying retail, a bigger pin and I got to support the regimental association. What do you think?
