Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I used nearly every last square inch of tartan to make this kilt. I started with 2 yards of 56 inch double wide fabric and ended up with two scraps, one is 1 1/2" x 24 and the other is 2 x 8". Talk about cutting it close! Luckily was able to do my buckle tabs and sporran loops and match the tartan to a fairly good degree.

I concur a very good kilt making effort. Visually, I like the three white horizontal lines, the last coming just above the hem line. That makes a very solid visual frame for the rest of the pattern within the horizontal and verticle white stripes. From the stern the white stripes set of the rest of the pattern. It is my view that it takes a skill born with you and never learned, to figure out the BEST way to make the difficult kilt setts/patterns 'work' the best, and bring out the very best effect in a sett. One can understand how quickly kilt pleating went from, 'fold it and go' to ' pleat it into a work of art'.
Well done, the Kilted Tailor bows out of the room to your skill

Great job. I really like how the colours came out in the pleating. Glad you are so pleased--it bodes well for many times of happy kilting. Thank you again for sharing your adventure with the rest of us.

The pleating to the white stripe is great and although I want the swing (and the warmth) of my knife pleats - knowing just how long even an experienced kilt maker takes over all those pleats, I very much like your comment about the speed of only having to sew 9 pleats.
