So Richard... gave the Black and Blue a go last night, fantastic!

I'm not much of a Guinness blender, other than Guinness extra stout and Guinness draft "Black and Blacker"
But this was truly delicious... thanks for the idea. Its a AZ summer time hit!

Blue Moon and Guinness, the "black and blue" or "eclipse".

Though this, mentioned earlier, is fantastic as well

Though it's not high-line, 'have been enjoying Foster's Australian Lager for decades.

Young's Double Chocolate Stout is a great winter drink.

Hofbrauhaus and Spaten serve as German faves.

I'm with you TJ on the Stone IPA and the Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA (go Erie, and Put-In-Bay; OH yea). And... there's few that are like the 'Three philosophers'!

We tried two beers last night at Old Chicagos. Laughing Lab Scottish Style Ale out of Colorado Springs, and Olathe Corn beer out of Olathe, Colorado.

The ale was very nice without being cloying. The beer was very clean, almost like drinking a light beer for weight. It would be very easy to drink to much of it.

The ale was 5.45% and the corn beer was 5%.

Harmony said that she would buy a case of these.

I really like doing the beer tours at Old Chicagos.

I've never had a bad beer from Florida's Dunedin Brewery - they provide the beer for our Highland Games. Looking forward to a day trip down to Dunedin to tour and drink and eat at the brewery. I LOVE the previously mentioned Innis and Gunn - smooooothe and creamy deliciousness. Orkney Skullsplitter is great too. For everyday slumming around we can get Yuengling pretty cheap here - that's my go to beer when craft or imports are unavailable. I love stuff from the Ommegang brewery and anything by Bell's and North Coast's Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout is one of my favorites of that style. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Shiner Bock (with a chicken fried steak thank you very much) and the German place by my house has Kostritzer schwarzbier on tap. I love most anything Belgian and I'm still trying to find a bad German beer. They have to make at least one don't they? Maybe they ain't capable but I won't know for sure until I've tried them all. I better get busy. I also love Magic Hat brewery. I hope getting bought by a big brewer doesn't change them too much. A few years ago I was stricken with the Bell's Palsy and could only drink from a straw. I thank the good folks who make Negra Modelo in those short little bottles so I could get my straw in. I can't hardly eat Mexican food without it now. But the food is not a requirement...

Heck, I'll even drink a Budweiser if it's free...but don't tell my snooty friends.

Beer has to be gluten free. Really, really limits choice. Current favourite is La Messagere Red.

It's made by Les bières de la Nouvelle-France in Quebec. For gluten free beer, this one is pretty good.

Don't remember if this has been mentioned before or not. While visiting my son, I came across Dragon's Milk frim the New Holland Brewery. It aged in bourbon barrels and is excellent. I've since learned that the nearest store that has it is 245 miles away, so I may have to wait until I visit my son again to stock up.

I've been watching this thread for a while. I'm a connoisseur of British Real Ale and enjoy most of the varieties that encompasses. I'm also rather partial to some of the Belgian and German beers, with a particular fondness for the darker beers in both regions. I'm also a big fan of the craft brewing revival in the US and make a point of trying new beers as much as possible.

As to a favourite? Hard to pick just one.

One of my favourite british beers is Old Speckled Hen. Draught, not bottled. The extra CO2 from the bottling makes it too acidic and prickly and takes away the smoothness.

For a summer ale, something lighter like Wychwood Scarecrow hits the spot.

Belgian beers, the commercial Leffe Brune is a good yardstick, but I'm also partial to Lindemans' Kriek when available.

In Germany, it's hard to beat a good Kolsch when in Cologne, and further south I like both the Heffeweizen and darker Dunklesbier styles.

And when in Boston, something from the Cambridge Brewing Company is my usual yardstick.

Oh, and this weekend I shall mostly be drinking Guiness. But since I'll be in Dublin, there's not another real option!

Well, if you end up in Chicago, Binny's on Clark Street stocks it and Binny's is about a block away from The Duke Of Perth....several of the guys who work at Binny's are regulars for lunch at the Duke. Let us know and we'll have a Kilt Afternoon and you can stock up!
