Barb,
Thank you for putting this photo up.
I really enjoyed being part of this group, even though I only got sewn about 16 and 4/5 of the 25 pleats needed for my first traditional kilt. Before the camp, this man's experience with needle and thread extended to replacing about half a dozen buttons, small wonder that I ripped out a few pleats because the first attempt ended up wandering around like cows in India.
I have learned so much from Barb and Steve's camp, and of course I have Barb's book, but now I know the person - Barb or Steve - who will answer my neophyte questions when I get stumped in the future. Not to mention my Ko-Kampers, good troopers all, with whom we shared many a laugh and valuable learnings, not least of which such crucial concepts as "pitching into the rough", "sticky wicket", "570 runs ahead", "The Ashes" and "wicket" (about four senses of this last one).
Okiwen, the Brumbies lost overnight, I don't know if you got to see it. I believe they led for most of the match, but the Chiefs finished stronger and their 27-22 victory sees them take the Super XV trophy this year. [Rugby, in case anyone's wondering.]
But the kilts are grand, just look at Maryp's. It inspired a paraphrase from Razzle Dazzle:-
Give 'em a kilt with lots of flash in it
And the reaction will be passionate
My dear reader, if you ever wanted to do a Kilt Kamp, or a significant other suggests you might benefit, don't you ever let the chance go by. A course is a course is a course, but when it's a kiltmaking event run with the passion and friendship that Barb and Steve bring to it, well, it's special. And big thanks as well to Dave Tewksbury for his logistic support and photographic skills.
I'd better hit the road again. Besides there's really only so much Scranton Red Carpet you can fit into a lifetime.
I hope the talk goes well, Barb,
All the best,
Ian

XMTS teaches much about formal kilt wear, but otherwise,
... the kilt is clothes, what you wear with it should be what you find best suits you and your lifestyle. (Anne the Pleater) "Sometimes, it is better not to know the facts" (Father Bill)
