I sent the monthly e-mail but as usual, no idea as to who is showing up.
I'll be there, of course. Vince will be there. He's turning 44 on Sunday, so we'll be celebrating that, as well as toasting Tom a few times.
I was told by several others from last month's Kilts Night that they'll be there this month. A few new guys may or may not show up. Alan, the guy that bought the kilt Colin was looking at, will be there.
It should be worth the trip in!

I just got an email from Nathan, and he will be there. I have also sent a reminder to Warren, and am trying to clear off some of my schedule so that I can make it down for a little while. Not sure yet.

Well, another Vancouver Kilt Night will come and go that I will have to miss. Sigh. One of these days, I promise!
However, to make up for it I will be kilted most of the weekend at a motorcycle rally for Vulcan owners. Pics to follow. 8)

any special arrangements?
I'm inspired. I'm thinking I'm going to have to start a kilt night for Calgary.
Did you guys make any special arrangements with the Trap. We have a Trap & Gill here and I figure that would be a great location for a Calgary Get Together (both of us). If you had any special arrangements I was thinking I could mention it to the Trap here.
I think I will avoid the September 4th for the first one (Calgary Highland Games + Trap = insane night).

I'm sure Al G. will be all over the fact that there is another kilt wearer in Calgary. Good luck organizing a kilt night. Your best bet is too go to http://www.kiltsnight.com/ and email Vince Hemingson (the organizer) and ask how he set it up.

Hopefully we can get something going here. The Calgary Highland games is coming up on Sept 4th, maybe we'll meet some more people there who'll be interested in casual get-togethers.

My advise would be to select which pub works for both of you (I have heard good things about Ceili's, and the Unicorn, and a new one which I cant remember). Once you have decided on the pub, just get a bunch of people (kilted or not) and just show up for your first night. Pubs will very seldomly agree to throw anything in for your group unless you can guarantee some numbers. Once they see that you can bring in the people, they may do reservations for you, drink specials, bands, etc.
The Trap and Gill is a great pub, but is far from my first choice for the kiltsnights. They do nothing to promote the eveneing, and have never done anything to encourage us to continue with the kiltsnight at that location. Of course this is more management (who are too busy trying to decide which pair of cfm boots to wear that evenining to care about the clientel). This is no reflection of the staff, they are just awesome, and or waitress Lisa is likely the main reason we keep coming back.
Anyhow, good luck guys and be sure to start a Calgary Kilts Night thread so that you can keep us up to date.
