I knew nothing of sewing when I first started. I wasn't an Xmarker until after my second or third kilt, I can't remember exactly. I say go for it. Read the book and ask questions here. You'll have an awesome kilt in no time.

Agreed! Aspiringloser encouraged me to get going on my own kiltmaking hobby and have just finished my third one.

This kilt looks awesome! I can't believe the pleating. It is going to be so cool when you walk with the pleats opening up. I am guessing there will be absolutely no problem with pressing this bad boy with all the pleats basted to a fair-thee-well! The great part is pressing it will be a snap. Great work and a great inspiration to all of aspiring kilt makers.

It looks great! I love the colors in the tartan. I completely agree with Aspiringloser and Gwynng. I bought the book looked through it and thought I wouldn't be able to do it, then I found the forum. Just looking at everyone working on their kilts was a huge boost to me thinking I could possibly do it. There is a wealth of information here and there are so many people willing to help.
