You could always get a charcoal day jacket which would work for both day and evening events wear a bit more formality is called for, and it might be cheaper -- be sure to get the vest to go with it, though.

I will be buying from a local shop, as their are comparable with the net shops, except that I won't have to pay duty or shipping charges. Unfortunately black is the only colour they carry. That's ok with me. I would love to get a vest to go with it, but have a hard time thinking about $100 for a vest. Not when I can go to a tuxedo shop and get one for under $100 and just add buttons. Is that so wrong?
