    Widowhood and clanship

I understand there is no 'law' which states to which clan any person should or can or want to 'belong' but is there a tradition or guideline or whatever for the following scenario?

A woman marries a man. He dies. She remarries, he dies. Following the reasoning that if one is to claim a clan kinship should she claim that of her father's, her first husband, her second husband, or, as she is living with the son of the first husband, would it look more "right" for her to consider herself allied with her son's clan?

Obviously, with no law to dictate what she must or must not do, she is free to choose any or none but, setting that aside, which relationship would be considered the 'closest' clan to her?

Um I'm a little foggy on that one, and I don't have my bible, can you refresh our memory?

24 "Teacher, Moses said, "If a man dies childless, his brother shall marry the widow, and raise up children for his brother.' 25 Now there were seven brothers among us; the first married, and died childless, leaving the widow to his brother. 26 The second did the same, so also the third, down to the seventh. 27 Last of all, the woman herself died. 28 In the resurrection, then, whose wife of the seven will she be? For all of them had married her."

    Seemed similar to me.

No attempt to teach or promulgate any religion or faith here, just pointing out that it's not a new question.

If the normal course of events takes place then my dear wife will be faced with that exact question. She was born into a Clan, married into another Clan became a widow, re-married into another Clan and convention says that until she chooses to re-marry, then she will keep my surname and thus, she will wear my tartan, as a widow, if she chooses. However, there are, as far as I am aware, no hard and fast rules here and I do know of one widow that reverted back to her maiden name, as there were no children to consider.

So by analogy, she has no clan?

Fails to apply. I am speaking of BEFORE the resurrection, not AFTER.
