Lovely photos indeed, thanks for sharing. I've attended The Worlds several times, as a spectator, and it is always a great day out. Glaswegians really know how to have a grand time and they certainly appreciate the pipes!

    Cheers,

A great set of pictures, but some very dubious captioning.

And, of course, a badass majorette leading them.

Unless I am very much mistaken, wrong gender, wrong ethnicity, wrong spelling and nothing remotely like "badass".

Chas, I think you might be taking this caption too seriously. In this instance I think "majorette" means a "little or small major" as opposed to a female and I would call his facial expression "badass" meaning very serious. Sort of "tongue in cheek" I would say. Dunno though maybe you are right and I am wrong.

You are probably right, Sailor. I think that this might be a case of us being divided by a common language. I did a quick poll of my neighbours here in sleepy Norfolk and when asked to define badass, most come up with a variation of "Ghetto Gangsta Rappa".

The one good thing is that the pictures captured a split second of time that could never be repeated and is usually never seen!

"[I]The drums they bonged were bongable.[I]" Buzzfeed needs to avoid bongs when coming up with captions. Not only the best band in the land, but the entire planet. The photos of the winners at the moment when the win was announced really show the kind of emotion and excitement that comes with a win like that. I think the photographer was smitten with the tenor drummer from St. Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band. She sure had her game face on. I was at the World's a couple of years ago and they are certainly an event anyone with interest in piping should attend. Buncha kilts there, too.

Does anyone else cringe when they see photos or videos of the winners jumping around like footballers with their thousands of dollars worth of African blackwood, silver, and ivory waving in the air?
