New Bonnet - Gentle Jocking?

Hi Guys,

my new Mackie bonnet just arrived and I was wondering - for there is no stream or dusty pathes near my place - if there is an effective "gentle" way of jocking...
Any recommendations?

I took mine through the shower with me. Wrung out most of the water and then wore it for the rest of the day. No soap on the bonnet though.

Maybe you could shout (sing) at it
I would use cold water, since the small streams tend to be cold aswell.

I find that the bathroom sink and a drop or two of detergent (our water is 'hard' so soap doesn't work well) some mildly warm water and a good sloshing around for a minute or so does the trick. A thorough rinse in water at the same temperature completes the washing, but there is then the ritual of rolling the cap in a towel and stamping on it to get most of the water out.

The cap is then put on still warm and damp and pulled into shape then worn until it is dry.

I make my own so I don't want to be harsh - and so far the process has produced a properly shaped and obedient cap every time.

Oh - except for the time I accidentally used a man made fibre yarn instead of the wool. Same colour, dark shelf was my excuse.
