That motorcycle-sidecar combo unit would be a great rental. I could ride in the sidecar with the single malt, while my wife drives the bike.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

We walked through the community looking for the best, most direct way to the hill - named The Law.

The summit was beautiful. We could hear the piping from the festival. We could see out to sea to Bass Rock. We could see the festival grounds. There was a ruin of an old building, there was a fiberglass reproduction of a whale jaw that had been put there years before. You could look down in the fields of barley and watch the waves of wind blow over it.

Going back down was, in many ways, more difficult. It was steep and the chance for a fall was quite real. It caused my hips to ache.

This old fellow, however, made it and is quite proud of having done so!

Once back at the venue I met up with Alex Cunningham and his lovely wife Gabriele and her daughter, Martina, who wants to be a piper.

Looks like you had a fantastic time! I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures and the stories behind them. It is good to see a fellow Massachusite getting on so well in Scotland.

    Cheers

    Nick

Great pics! I'm a bit surprised you didn't tackle Bass Rock, too, ... or is that on the agenda tomorrow.

Downhill is always harder on your body than uphill - same with a mountain bike, too. It's great that you got to spend some time with Alex, Gabriele, and Martina. Wish I could have been there to observe you ascent of the Law through binoculars while sitting at a local pub quaffing an ale.

Quick correction. Locally, it's known as the 'Teuchter Triangle' - so called for its propensity to suck up young arrivals from the west coast and isles who are never to be seen again. The Ben Nevis, although of that ilk, is a bit east of the triangle which includes the Park, The Islay, and The Snaffle Bit (which I didn't take you to....yet.)

Thanks, Fitz, for that clarification. I do look forward to seeing the Snaffle Bit. Can't wait!

Been really busy since getting back but I am prepared to carry on a bit.

North Berwick was on the 10th of August. On the 11th we went to Perth. While there some of us went to the Black Watch museum. Very nice!

The museum itself is a grand old building:
