    Maple leaf

I am considering the maple leaf as my first five yard wool kilt. Does anyone have photos of theirs, so can see it as a kilt. A swatch just does not do it for me Thank you all.

I dont have a kilt of it but intend to one day. You cant go wrong with the colours in the Maple Leaf. I plan to have one for fall/winter use because the colours fit that time of year so well. best of luck with this...

Click on the Meet the Staff link above, I believe moderator CDNSUSHI is wearing one ( the Maple Leaf tartan always catches my eye, too).

Herer is a picture of my 8 yd kilt in the Maple Leaf 16 oz. from Lochcarron. Do you have a Canadian connection, or do you just like the tartan?

I spent a week in Canada skiing mint years ago. Love the people, love the country, but no direct connection from that. If I could not live in the US, Canada would be my first choice.

Here is a picture of the Maple Leaf Tartan in a 4 yard Box Pleat from Matt Newsome.

I bought 4 yards of double width cloth thinking it could be ripped in two and made into an 8 yard kilt. I then found that the Maple Leaf is what is called an asymmetrical sett and you need to have a full 8 yards in a length to make a proper kilt. Matt saved the day by making myself and my wife two box pleated 4 yard kilts! I'm sorry I don't have a picture of the pleats and I'm not able to give you any further advice on how to pleat an asymmetrical tartan, but I'm sure there are others here who can.

    Best wishes,
    Tom

Here's mine from last winter... not quite as dark as the others above. Woven by Batley.
