OK, I've been gone on vacation up to the In-laws house on Herron Island in south Puget Sound. We kayaked a lot and my nose ran, 9 days straight from the mold in the house. bleeecccch. However, I got to the park 6 days and threw caber. I also made myself a new caber from a downed tree on the island, so now I have two, up there. A.) 15' 8" not much taper, and 80 pounds, B.) 16' 11" quite a bit of taper, and 73-75 pounds.
I threw a lot of Open Stone drills and have come to the conclusion, again, that all the fuss and bother with gliding and shuffling doesn't get me anything, so I might as well just hunker down and stand the O stone out there from the power position. I did 4 days of toeboard drills and standing throws with both a 14 pound and a 16 pound stone and that's the most concentrated O stone work, all season. I also did FIFTY caber throws over the 6 days up there, and got about 42 turns.
That's good work, all of it. I'm as ready as I can ever be for the Pleasanton cabers. Tonight we have an easy workout, we'll do some WOB since I haven't touched it in weeks, and maybe some hammers.
