New kilt for Friday
I don't get as many kilted Fridays with my new job, but yesterday I got home a bit early and wore one of my two new kilts. My primary is a 4yd 16oz Locharran wool Black Watch, but yesterday I had on an 8yd PV from Heritage of Scotland in Gunn tartan.
I bought that kilt and a Heritage of Scotland tartan (purple, black, white) for knock-around and sporting events where the wool kilt might be subject to damage. My son, who's in high school and is somewhat neutral on my kilt wearing even commented that he liked the Gunn tartan and I commented that we do have a family connection to Gunn, even though it's 3 generations back.

Last week was my Ancient Hunting McRae. This week is my new (to me) Modern Hunting McRae. I got it for a steal off ebay a couple of weeks ago.

Alas, no kilt out and about today*. I'll be at a motorcycle rally, going for a couple of test rides and, of course, using my bike to get there.
*But I do have on my basic SportKilt Blackwatch for morning coffee and a bit of porch-sittin' at home.

It's actually slowly beginning to get warmer as Spring comes in. Last week was the first week of spring and we had sunny days with temperatures in the early to mid 20s celcius. This week, it's been rather colder (late teens) and wetter.
The kilt pin I bought some years ago off ebay as an 'antique kilt pin'. I suspect it's actually a fly plaid brooch, though I prefer this type of pin.

Busy Kilted Friday, first work no kilt its against the safety rules, brought a train to Sparks Nevada from Elko Nevada. Home for a nap, the The wife and I are going out to dinner then to our first Scottish Country dance class(with me, I hope no one gets hurt). Then to Ceol Irish pub to relax and listen to our favorite musician Neil O'Kane. I'm in my Black Stewart kilt, claret hose, ancient blue flashes and a black short sleeve "Dickies" work shirt. I went to the tailor and picked up my black cashmere Argyll jacket which I had to have taken in two sizes. I've been keeping the weight off, so next summer hopefully I'll be ordering my first wool kilt . I'm leaning heavily toward the Douglas weathered, second choice is the Maple Leaf. I just have to wait and see which one wins.

[QUOTE=Stilletto_Rebel;1193394] Last week was the first week of spring and we had sunny days with temperatures in the early to mid 20s celcius.
Actually, no, it wasn't. Seasons run from Solstice to Equinox and Equinox to Solstice; Spring runs from the Vernal Equinox (September 21 or 22 in the southern hemisphere) to the Summer Solstice (December 21 or 22 in the southern hemisphere).
Summer runs from the Summer Solstice to the Autumnal Equinox, Autumn (Fall to our US friends) from Autumnal Equinox to Winter Solstice and Winter from Winter Solstice to Vernal Equinox. Of course, above the tropic, that's all moot!
We all know Australia is ahead of most of the world - but not by three weeks! I really don't remember when this "Start of the Month myth" started but since we've had Christmas stuff in the shops up here in QLD since July, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised!
Be that as it may, it is warming up a bit, we had 30 Celsius (86 F for our US friends) in the shade a couple of days last week and we are six weeks into our regular winter drought - the grass is wonderfully brown and crispy but at least it doesn't need mowing!
Wore my HoS MacKenzie 8 yd PV for the grocery shopping Friday morning and doing a few "round tuits" around the house in the afternoon.
Regards, Sav.

You're right; I've just googled it. That'll teach me not to simply believe everything I'm told!
