Mother Nature and Jocking a Bonnet

Yesterday, I played my pipes at the outdoor wedding of a friend whose intended wanted pipes played. I was agreeable. Mother Nature, not so much. At one half hour before the ceremony, the skies opened up and rain began sheeting down. My job was to play, so I soldiered on with my wedding and related tunes. Naturally, my new Balmorral was soaked and my glasses fogged. For the processional, I took off my glasses (didn't need 'em) and played in the wedding party. As soon as I struck in to play the processional, the rain stopped. After the ceremony, I played them out and we even got a double rainbow overhead to finish the ceremony. All the groomsmen and the groom changed into kilts for the reception (bride forbade them at the ceremony, save for yours truly). I kept on my soaked bonnet, shaped it to my liking in a mirror and enjoyed the reception. Afterwards, at home, my wife came in and asked my why I still had my bonnet on. Explained the soaking, shaping and wearing until dry and her response? "Oh, carry on." Now, I have a properly shaped Balmoral, all with an assist from Mother Nature. She can be alright, sometimes.

You know what they say about pictures.....

I hope your pipes dried out as well as your bonnet, though.

No disrespect to Jocking a Balmoral, but, I have always been in favor of soaking, wringing out, place on head, shape and wear till dry process. But then with my opinion and a $1.00 you can get a 24 cent cup of coffee.
