    Stephens as a Sept of Mactavish

    I am looking for information or sources on how Stephens came to be a sept of the MacTavish Clan? My ancestor, Alexander Stephens came over to the United States from Leith, Scotland in 1746 after being charged for transporting gunpowder to the forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie. I am interested in finding out if our family has some sort of association with the MacTavish Clan. Thank you.
