Is there such a thing as a woollen kilt WITH POCKETS?

Grr. I just drafted a posting on this and now it seems to have gone into cyberlimbo. Here's a shorter new attempt.

I have 6 kilts, all of them 'modern' kilts: non-Scottish, non-woollen, and ALL WITH POCKETS. A Man Needs Pockets.

I live in Finland and am feeling the need of a woollen kilt for the coming winter (expected temperature range: +5 ... -25 C). But it should have Pockets. Does anyone know of a manufacturer who offers these (I don't think I could afford to commission one specially). I've searched online but not found anything. Preferably 2 side pockets (they don't need t be mega-sized cargo) and 1 or 2 bum pockets.

I realize there may be difficulties with hanging pockets off woven wool, but surely someone has been inventive?

As Bill said, Freedom Kilts specializes in Kilts with Pockets.

Almost every kilt we make has pockets. We started with the more utility type kilts with cargo pockets and now make full, hand-sewn Tartan kilts with pockets.

    Dear fellow kiltfolk,

So many of you pointed to Freedom Kilts that it must be true. I'll know for myself soon enough: placed an order with Steve yesterday.

    Thanks for responses!

I'm sure you'll be pleased! Congratulations. What tartan is it in again?

Ah – I don't wear tartan, having no ethnic claim thereto whatsoever. So he's doing a box-pleated one for me in plain black.

Always helpful to remember tartan is much, MUCH older than Scotland, and widely spread across Europe and Asia.
Many tartans are not clan related or even Scotland related. Many are universal, and available to all. Take your pick. And there is a Finnish tartan, good if you like blue based tartans as much as I. Or design your own.

If you just don't like tartan, it's OK to say so, but if you do, enjoy any and all you choose.
