Just a thought regarding headwear

Hello. Long time browser, first time poster. My only kilt at the moment is a black Utilikilts Original. I generally wear it with a black shirt and low cut black boots. Decided I needed a hat to go with it and started poking around. Found a place called Village Hat Shop. Browsed around for a while looking for hats big enough to fit my giant melon. Found a newsboy hat made of a fabric similar to my kilt and the same color. Ordered it for myself (just a hair over $24 shipped) and it has become a regular accessory during warmer kilt weather. I plan on ordering a wool version to wear in the colder months but I have gotten a lot of compliments on how good it looks with the kilt.

Hello OodSigma, and welcome to X Marks. Thank you for sharing the info on the Village Hat Shop. What kind of kilt do you have? I was curious since you mentioned that the kilt and the hat were of similar material (you could certainly post a picture!).

Thank you for the warm welcome guys. Right now the only kilt I own is a Utilikilts Original in black. The hat I got is made by a company called Jaxon. It's their basic cotton Ivy cap. It's a bit lighter weight material than the kilt but you can't tell unless you put them side by side. The hat is light enough that you don't overheat when it's hot but it does an excellent job keeping direct sun off your head.

Also, if you're like me and have a larger than one size fits all head, Village Hat Shop sells quite a few different styles in bigger sizes.

You're there in the Land of Oz, where they have a very practical sort of hat which looks great with the kilt. I myself wouldn't hesitate a moment to wear it!

I have this hat, the kind with the mesh sides, which is extremely practical, keeping off the sun but allowing air to circulate

When my Father worked on a farm he didn't wear any headgear, come rain or shine, winter or summer. Mind you, he always wore his nicky-tams.
My Granddad, (he was a shepherd) always wore a fore and aft tweed hat, also called a deerstalker, all the time. For all I know he may have worn it in bed, I can't think of a time when I didn't see him wearing it, even in the house.
