Scottish Kilt Shop

Hello, Keclea; welcome to X Marks form, Delaware.

Though I don't have any experience with the Scottish Kilt Shop, their prices for kilts (and especially their sporrans) seem very low, perhaps too low, which is a 'red flag' to me. It begs the question, will they hold up under everyday usage. Utility style kilts from AmeriKilt, UTkilt, KiltManKilt, and others, are inexpensive but not cheap and, they are well made, easily withstanding everyday use. I would wonder where such cheap kilts are really made.

I hear you; when I'm apt to get dirty or plan to be hiking, or out and about in inclement weather, I prefer to wear my utility kilt as well. However, I believe that some degree of quality is necessary for garments subjected to rough usage.

Thanks Nile! Awesome response. I agree with you. I would mention the UTKilts are made in Pakistan, and they are decently made. I have one. I spoke to "Usman" from Scottish Kilt Shop, and he was very up front about the fact that the SKS kilts are made in Pakistan as well. It actually was a rather interesting discussion. It still doesn't mean that they are totally on the up and up, but I have a better feeling about them than before the conversation.

As far as utility kilts go, Utilikilts is my favorite. It is the oldest one I have, and it fits me the best. Their prices keep going up, so I am not sure what to think about that. It is really well made and is still in excellent condition.

I have the same philosophy. I put my bespoke kilts up for proper occasions and use my PV or acrylic for everyday use so when i dirty them, which is often, i chuck them in the washer, rack dry them, and Bob's your uncle, good as new again!

Quite right Father Frank. And based on that philosophy, and after several very long conversations with the pakistani guy at the Scottish Kilt Shop (the name should be changed by the way), I ordered one of their inexpensive $35 utility kilts. My thought process is that if it turns out to be totally a scam, disputing the $35 cost with Paypal shouldn't be that big of a headache. If I do actually receive a kilt, I will be carefully examining and reviewing it. Whatever my conclusions, I will be making a video review of the product, which I will upload to youTube. I will then send that link to the SKS, as well as posting it here, and on some of the Facebook groups I am part of. If it is decent, maybe other people will benefit from my positive experience, and if it is bad, people will know for certain to steer clear. (I'll be the guinea pig.)

We'll put! I am thinking of ordering just to check it out. But the cost is cheap enough to see. Seeing how a paid a lot for my kilt. I am looking for something I really don't have to worry about to much. Will see

As of today, they state that they are shipping the kilt and sporran tomorrow. Impressions so far: The website is terrible. The rep I spoke to is well aware of how bad it is. He kept apologizing. He says that he is going to send me a picture of the kilt before they ship it. If that happens, I will post it here.

So, I finally got word that the kilt has been shipped. I was sent this picture, as well as a tracking #. As expected, it is shipping from Pakistan. This is supposed to be a picture of the actual kilt they are sending me. Still reserving judgement until I get my hands on the garment. No way yet to tell how long the shipping process will take.
