who got the Ebay MOD sporran?

I'm wondering if any of us XMarkers picked up the "Culloden" 1953 MOD sporran that closed yesterday on Ebay.

(BTW it was listed as a "19th century" sporran and I messaged them a correction, which they did not make.)

Last I checked, several hours before auction close, it was going for around $60, far less than what they usually go for nowadays.

I didn't mention the auction while it was "live" out of respect for any XMarker who might have been able to get a great price on it.

It had been pipeclayed and came complete with white strap. The cantle seemed to be in decent working condition.

Hmmm Artificer did you pick it up for a song perhaps?

I was wondering the same thing. I had it on a watch list (like the TSA?), but bidding got a little rich for my blood on something that needed work to be wearable. Still that cantle looked pretty sweet. I do hope it was an Xmarker who will show us the result once it is spruced up.

How high did it end up going for? It was only around $60 when I last saw it. I think those sporrans have been going for $200 or more, haven't they?

That's actually not too bad. I recall paying around $200 plus shipping from the UK for mine, in which I had a bespoke bag/tassles/strap made for it by Artificer, then I sold it off some time ago! I didn't care for the weight of the cantle and the way it hung on my kilt. I suppose it just wasn't my cup of tea after all.

If I had thought that it would have gone that low, I would have bid! Of course we can't know what the actual high bid was... could have been $150 or more.

Not that I don't already have one but another wouldn't be a bad thing!

I guess it was not an X Marker then - no telling where the little fellow wound up at ?
