    Would be as well to check the provenance of these, especially the "new" one - Otters are protected animals in many parts of the world and possession of pelts is illegal in some places.

    Quite right. It appears the second otter sporran (second link, I should say) was made by R.W. Forsyth Ltd. of Glasgow. The first otter sporran appears to be homemade. I should also mention that all of my full-mask sporrans from Kate Macpherson come with the appropriate licensure, yet that only really applies whilst I'm in Scotland.
