    Review of a non-xmarks advertiser

I recently purchased a sporran from a Non-Xmarks advertiser. I believe a number of members have purchased from them so I thought I would give them a go. So here is my review of the product purchased.

I purchased the "Loch Ness" sporran from http://www.buzzkidderoriginals.com/. The customer service and turnaround time was excellent, I made my purchased via the web-site and followed up with a quick email. I received a response the next business day telling me my sporran was on the way. All good so far now for the product itself.

The leather is thick and sturdy yet very soft and pliable. There are no loose threads or unfinished edges. The bag is Large wow I can carry everything I need and more. The closure is a magnetic snap which makes it extremely easy to close with one hand.

Now the back of the sporran is where I have a challenge. I've learned here that, since I do wear my kilts daily I should really use a leather sporran strap/belt, not the chain that most sporrans come with. I have two straps one black and one brown both are a one piece belt type. Unfortunately neither one will work with this sporran. The way the sporran rings on the back of the sporran are configured they will not work.

I have order a customer sporran belt from Wyvern Leatherworks to solve my problem. The belt was on the way the next day.

All in all I do like this sporran very much. The customer service and response time is excellent. The product is very well put together I will enjoy it for a long time.

I am wearing my Buzz Kidder sporran as I write this. I use sporran hangers, rather than a sporran belt.

I have a black Rob Roy sporran from Buzz Kidder and get a lot of use out of it. I use sporran belt from R-Kilts and they go together very well.

I'm wearing my original Buzz Kidder Loch Ness sporran right now (black with a pewter celtic knot circle decoration) right now. In all my years on XMTS I have never heard anything but praise for their sporrans. They are big, solidly constructed, and built to last. Yours will serve you well.

    Cheers

I bought a Buzz Kidder sporran at the Ardenwood Games earlier this year. I like the sporran and have worn it several times but there was a serious problem with it that I still have not completely eliminated.
In the picture below you can see the 5 brass "rivets" on the back of the sporran. These were not smooth but had small metal "spikes" on them. I have filed them down quite a bit but they are still rough and I am afraid of them abrading my kilts. As you can probably tell I end up putting pieces of masking tape over them when I wear it to avoid any damage to my kilt. Click image for larger version.
