Mr. Scott. Do you always multiply your repair estimates by a factor of four?

When he arrived at an incident that I was working, looked at a sheet covered figure on the pavement, and asked "What do we have?"...

It was just too good an opportunity to pass up.

Some folks might find such an incident to be a poor time for humor, but those who've managed to survive a couple of decades as emergency responders have generally learned to find humor in some really sad situations.

How tough are Scotsmen? We'll they were imported into Ireland to supplant the native Irish there then they went to America and opened up the West. Armstrongs, Bells,Scott's etc. were a pretty hardy lot from the Borders of Scotland and England in the times when survival meant looking after yourself. The early cattle drovers were Scots who had spent their lives doing just that. The early tobacco traders settled in Virginia and exported back to Glasgow. And, less justifiably, slave traders such as the Stirlings made fortunes in the West Indies. Just a pity that their predecessors from Oliver Cromwell's time hadn't looked favourably on the Scots exported to the Americas as slaves. It wasn't just Africans who suffered in this way in case anyone is unaware of the true nature of the trade.

Scotty's kilt wearing was discussed on XMTS in this thread. In summary, he rarely wore it, he had a fly plaid, and it was in the Scott Black and White tartan.

To continue with the Scotty quotes:
From TOS episode ‘By Any Other Name’
Scotty: [Trying to drink Tomar - a Kelvan crew member attempting to take over the Enterprise - under the table, Scotty enters, a bit tipsy, with a bottle of green liquid] I found this in the ganner room... ganner...
    Tomar: What is it?
Scotty: It's, [looks for a label]
Scotty: uh, [looks under the bottle; sniffs it]
    Scotty: ... It's green.
Here you go John , a vid of the above scene , one of my favorites !
