Excellant topic Casey!
I just posted something to Graham about "The Wicked Tinkers", and it's a PERFECT example of how it's SO much better live. To me, unless you're listening to the slower traditional instrumentals, there's no comparison.
I'm a little tainted with the subject, since I'm in a Celtic band. I know that the energy goes both ways... musicians and crowd. That extra energy is vital to the enjoyment AND the performance.
The only way to get over it, is to go see the bands and then listen to the CDs with the performance in your brain. 8)
