I got my kilts a few months ago and my wife HATES, HATES, HATES them! .
Maybe she just hates the thought of all the extra attention you may get. My wife is so used to it she says she no longer notices and is surprised when people ask about it! Maybe you can wear it too often.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Hey neighbor. Ask your wife if she's willing to go to a large mall with you while you're kilted. Tell her to walk about 20 feet behind you and watch how the folks who walk past you react, and watch how the people you pass react. Take in the double takes, the smiles, the whispers...

This morning I went in to the hospital for my second colonoscopy (routine first was ten years ago) and when the surgical nurse came out to get me she looked at me in jeans and said, "You should have worn your skirt!" Of course explained the kilt is a type of skirt. And I had thought of it but figured I'd be too drugged up after to fiddle with the kilt and hose and sporran... Was a good decision...I was staggering for a while...

So when, in the history of mankind, has another man gone in for a routine colonoscopy and had a nurse look at him in jeans and say, "You should have worn your skirt [kilt]?"

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."

My wife initially refused to go anywhere with my son and I when we got ours. She now will let us wear them once and a while when we all go out together. My son helps out with that by telling her all sorts of woman are hitting on me when she doesn't come out with us.

I got my kilts a few months ago and my wife HATES, HATES, HATES them! She hate the whole idea of me wearing one. She always asks, "Where are you going to wear that thing?" I tell her, "Anywhere I please, but I will stop wearing it when somebody talks crap about it to my face." The last is not likely to happen as I am on the particularly large and muscular size. My father waited until the last years of his life to buy one and I believe he only got to wear it at one Scottish Festival in Tucson. I don't want that to be my case. Any ideas how to get past her animosity? I remember seeing a thread here before, but can't find it.
    It might be this thread

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...wearing-80766/

(WAG in this context is Wives and Girlfriends)

FWIW, mine is still not particularly positive -- continues to talk about
my "skirt" -- I even bought a "We kilt the last one that called it a skirt"
T shirt to get the point across.

OTOH she hasn't started wearing an "I'm with weirdo" T, so I should be
    grateful for small mercies.

    -Don
